Sixteen thousand dollars in gold were lately discovered hid on the premises of Madame Taylor
, a notorious rebel and the proprietress of a house of ill-fame in New Orleans.
Five thousand dollars in silver were also found there a few days previous.
A large portion of the money is said to belong to officers in the rebel army.
