--On Saturday night, a cow, whose owner had thoughtlessly allowed her to remain outside of his lot, was butchered by some person or persons unknown, in the bottom on the south side of the penitentiary.
The hide, head, feet and entrails, were left upon the spot, so that the owner may have the pleasure — if pleasure it would be — of identifying the dead animal.
