Mobile.

--New Orleans advices of the 17th instant, published in the Yankee papers, state that General Canby was then with his troops near Mobile, and it was expected that the combined land and naval attack on that place would be made within five days. General Canby, Admiral Thatcher and Generals Granger and Smith went up the harbor on the 8th instant, on board a steamer, to within four miles of the city, and drew the fire of several of the rebel batteries; but none of the shots took effect.
