--General Hooker, Commander of the Department of the East, is dangerously sick at his home, in New York city.
He has for a few days been in a doubtful condition, though his symptoms are now more favorable.
His disease is erysipelas in the head.
He has no visitors, and no business is allowed to trouble him.
