Robbery and Outrageous Assault upon ladies.
--On Wednesday evening, about six o'clock, three men, dressed in blue uniform, and supposed to be United States
soldiers, went into the store of Mrs. Fauldhauber
, on Sixth, between Marshall and Clay streets, and pretended that they wanted to purchase some goods.
There was no one in the store at the time but the proprietress and a young lady, and the conduct of the men being such as to excite suspicion, Mrs. Fauldhauber
closed the door, intending to send for a policeman and have them arrested.
The men then snatched up a quantity of dry goods
, and Mrs. Fauld
-hanber screamed, when one of them seized her by the throat, choked and threw her upon the floor; and at the same time his two companions made a similar demonstration upon the young lady.
They then made their escape, going up Clay street, and taking their plunder with them.
One of the men left a cap behind, marked with the letter "F."
