conceive (1 and 2 were common Eliz. senses)
1. to take the meaning of (a person), understand Wiv. I. i. 251 “ me, me,” Meas. II. iv. 142, MND. IV. i. 220, Lr. I. i. 12; absol. 2H4 II. ii. 126 “takes upon him not to ,” Tp. IV. i. 50 “Well, I conceive.”
2. to have a certain opinion of H8 I. ii. 105 “The griev'd commons Hardly conceive of me.”
