eyas: young hawk taken from the nest for the purpose of training, or one whose training is incomplete; fig. Ham. II. ii. 363 [355] “an aerie of children, little e-s” (F1 “Yases”); so eyas-musket, used jocularly of a sprightly child Wiv. III. iii. 22. ∥ “ ” is literally a ‘nest-bird’ (‘an eyas’=‘a nyas’, which is ultimately from Latin ‘nidus’ nest); “musket” is the male of the sparrow-hawk.
