Metope
One of the recessed panels between the triglyphs, often with the same height as the triglyph, but wider, approximately square.Description: The metopes are thin slabs, grooved into the triglyph. Often the metopes bear carved relief, but they were also left plain. When so, they have a flat projecting band across their tops.
