ILIBERRIS (Elvira) Granada, Spain.

The exact location of this Baetic town W of Granada is not known and there is no archaeological evidence. About A.D. 309 19 bishops and 24 presbyters met here in a Council which promulgated 81 canons, notably no. 36, prohibiting images and paintings in the churches.
