(Kirkby Thore) Westmorland, England.
On the road from Eburacum (York) to
Luguvallium (Carlisle). The fort, unexcavated, lies in
the SE corner of a large civil settlement, probably defended in the 3d-4th c. The fort was garrisoned by a
cavalry unit with an African commander in the 3d c.,
at another time by a numerus of Syrian archers.
