BRAVONIACUM (Kirkby Thore) Westmorland, England.

On the road from Eburacum (York) to Luguvallium (Carlisle). The fort, unexcavated, lies in the SE corner of a large civil settlement, probably defended in the 3d-4th c. The fort was garrisoned by a cavalry unit with an African commander in the 3d c., at another time by a numerus of Syrian archers.
