ROCAVECCHIA (Melendugno) Lecce, Apuhia, Italy.

A Messapic city near the ancient harbor of Lupiae, ca. 15 km S of San Castaldo. It was of great importance, to judge by its great circuit walls of the 4th c. B.C. and its numerous rich tombs. Some Messapic inscriptions are preserved in the Museo Castromediano at Lecce.
