SAINT-LEZER Hautes-Pyrénées, France.

The oppidum of Saint-Lezer is enclosed by a rampart of Roman date. Some consider it the first capital of the “city” of Begorra. Since 1956 new investigations have been conducted on the site. These have led to better knowledge of the ramparts and of the stratigraphy of the settlement, to the survey of a funerary mole, and to numerous individual finds, especially pottery, and a funerary head in white Saint-Béat marble.
