SALTUS CASTULONENSIS Jaén, Spain.

In the Sierra Morena (Livy 22.30.11; 26.20), and famous for its silver mines; the Baebelo mine paid Hannibal 300 pounds per day. In Pliny's time (33.97) it was excavated to 1500 paces. It has produced many mining instruments now in the Linares museum, and two reliefs of miners, one in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid, the other lost.
