ZIMARA (Altintaş, İliç, Erzincan) Armenia Minor, Turkey.

A fort in a key position on the Roman E frontier. It lay 11 km N of the great bend S of the Euphrates. Ruins have been noted a short distance E of the modern village. Adatepe (formerly Pingan) on the Euphrates bank nearby has produced inscriptions, especially a tombstone of a decurion of Ala II Ulpia Auriana (CIL III, 6743), which is not necessarily to be identified with the

Ala Auriana stationed at Dascusa. Early identifications of Pingan with Dascusa are erroneous.
