τὴν: Soph. freely uses the art. for the relat. pron., in dialogue no less than in lyrics; but (except in Tr. 47) only where metre requires: cp. crit. n. on 35: so in dialogue 1258 (“τῆς”), O. T. 1379 (“τῶν”), 1427 (“τὸ”), Ant. 1086 (“τῶν”), El. 1144 (“τὴν”), Tr. 47 (“τὴν”), 381, 728 (“τῆς”), Ph. 14 (“τῷ”), etc.

τάλας has nearly the force of an interjection, “"ah me!"”: cp. 318.
