τί δῆτ᾽ ἂν … ἐπεντέλλοις = τί δῆτ᾽ ἂν εἴη...ὃ ἐπεντέλλεις; cp. O. C. 647 “μέγ᾽ ἂν λέγοις δώρημα”: Ph. 26. The reading ἄλλῳ is a bad one, for the contrast is between commands, not persons; and an awkward ambiguity would arise, since τοῦτο might then seem to mean the watching of the corpse. ἐπιχωρεῖν, accedere, to join their side: Thuc. 4.107 “δεξάμενος τοὺς ἐθελήσαντας ἐπιχωρῆσαι... κατὰ τὰς σπονδάς”. Mirab. 133 “τούτῳ τῷ ἐπιγράμματι ἐπεχώρησε καὶ ὁ τόπος ἐκεῖνος” (corroborated it). ἀπιστοῦσιν = ἀπειθοῦσιν: 381, 656. τάδε, cogn. acc.: cp. 66.
