εἴ τις γνώμη πρόσεστι καὶ ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ν. (“ὄντος”), i.e., if I also, younger though I am, can contribute a sound opinion. Cp. O. C. 292τἀνθυμήματα ...τἀπὸ σοῦ”, the thoughts urged on thy part. El. 1464τελεῖται τἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ”. For the modest καί, cp. O. T. 1100εἰ χρή τι κἀμὲ...σταθμᾶσθαι”: Ph. 192εἴπερ κἀγώ τι φρονῶ”.—If κἀπ᾽ were taken as “καὶ ἐπί”, it must mean, ‘in my case also.’ Plat. Rep. 475Aἐπ᾽ ἐμοῦ λέγειν” (to take me as an instance). In El. 1469 I formerly thus took “κἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ θρήνων τύχῃ”, but now think that there, too, it is “καὶ ἀπό.

πρεσβεύειν = πρεσβύτατον εἶναι, to be the best thing: Eur. Her. 45οἶσι πρεσβεύει γένος”, whose birth has precedence (=the eldest): cp. O. T. 1365 (“πρεσβύτερον”) n.
