EQUUS SEVERI

a bronze equestrian statue of Severus in the forum, erected by the emperor himself to commemorate a dream (Herodian ii. 9. 6). It is probably represented on several coins (Cohen, Severe 3-6, 8, I, 14 (?) ). No trace of this statue has been found, and its position is unknown (Mel. 1900, 215-220; Thed. 167, 267; Mitt. 1905, 74-5).
