NAEVIA NEMORA

woods on the Aventine belonging to a certain Naevius (Fest. 168), close to the porta Naevia, which was named from them (Varro, LL v. 163). They became proverbial as a resort of criminals (Fest. 169; cf. Obseq. 44). For the site, see PORTA NAEVIA and VICUS PORTAE NAEVIAE.
