NYMPHAE, AEDES

a temple in the campus Martius, containing many documents relating to the census, which was burned by Clodius (Cic. pro Mil. 73 ; Parad. iv. 31; cf. de har. resp. 57). Its day of dedication was 23rd August (Fast. Arv. ad x Kal. Sept., CIL i². p. 215, 326). There is no indication of its location in the campus Martius, unless its identification with the aedes Iuturnae (Mommsen, CIL i². p. 326) be accepted. For this, however, there is no convincing evidence (HJ 481-482; Gilb. iii. 162-163; Rosch. iii. 540-541, 544; WR 223).
