SICILIA
apparently an apartment in the imperial palace on the Palatine
(Hist. Aug. Pert. II:
ingressique porticus Palati usque ad locum qui
appellatur Sicilia et Iovis cenatio). Sicilia has sometimes been identified
with the porticus, and Iovis cenatio, which would naturally be applied
to a dining room, with the so-called triclinium of the DOMUS FLAVIA (q.v.),
but these identifications are purely arbitrary.
1 It is not even clear whether
both names belong to one apartment or to different rooms in the same
part of the palace (HJ 89;
BC 1914, 99-110).
