ἀρότοισιν, ‘with tillage,’ used by a zeugma with καταΐσχεται. The plural ἀρότοισι may be explained by such Homeric usages as “τεκτοσύναι”, Od.5. 250, for ‘carpentry,’ “ἱπποσύναι”, etc. καταΐσχεται, a poetical form for “κατίσχεται” = ‘is occupied,’ ‘filled.’ So Il.16. 79“οἱ δ᾽ ἀλαλητῷ”“πᾶν πεδίον κατέχουσι”.
