γευσόμεθα, make trial, as 21.61 “δουρὸς ἀκωκῆς . . γεύσεται,” Od. 20.181 “χειρῶν,” Od. 21.98 “ὀϊστοῦ”. But the word is more naturally used with a weapon than a man for its object. Cf. Pind. P. ix. 35 “γεύεται δ᾽ ἀλκᾶς ἀπειράντου”.
