[218] οὐκ ἔσσεται ἄλλως, no change will be made, nothing will be effected, till, etc. “ἄλλως” has the connotation ‘better’ in Od. 8.176, Od. 20.211, and cf. also 11.391. The euphemism by which “ἄλλως” = “κακῶς” is not Homeric.
