[99] αὐτός, i.e.μόνος”, as 2.233, 13.729, 24.499. The phrase προμάχοισιν ἐμίχθη seems out of place here, as it is regularly used of a hero who comes forward from the rear to take his place among the champions of his own side; but now there are no Greek “πρόμαχοι” at all, as all have fled. The phrase is merely copied from 5.134.
