II. Ἑκάτης δεῖπνον Hecate's dinner, a meal set out by rich persons at the foot of her statue ἐν τριόδοις on the 30th day of each month, when it became a sort of dole for beggars and paupers, Ar.Pl.594 et Sch. adloc., cf. Plu.2.280c, 290d, AB247 : hence, as it consisted of offal, Ἑκαταῖα κατεσθίειν, of a rapscallion, D.54.39, cf. Luc.DMort.1.1.
