I. of Time, towards evening, Hom., esp. in Od., usu. with Verbs, “. δ᾽ εἰς ἄστυ..κάτειμιOd.15.505 ; “ἑσπερίους ἀγέρεσθαι ἀνώγει2.385 ; “ἀπονέεσθαι .9.452 ; “. φλέγενPi.N.6.38 ; ἑσπερίῃσι (sc. ὥραις) at eventide, Opp.C.1.138, cf. Man.2.422 ; ἄχρι ἑσπερίου (sc. χρόνου) Arist.HA619b21 (v. ἀκρέσπερος); . ἀοιδαί songs sung at even, Pi.P.3.19 : in late Prose, “ἑσπέριος [γένεσις]Vett.Val. 72.21.
