A.the Opici or Osci (Opsci, Fest.p.218 L.), an ancient people of Southern Italy, Arist.Pol.1329b19, Str.5.4.3:—also Ὄπικες , v.l. in Th.6.2 ; Ὀπικία , , their country, ib.4 : hence,
II. Ὀπικός , ή, όν, barbarous, AP5.131 (Phld.), cf. Juv.3.207 : hence ὀπικίζω , = βαρβαρίζω, Lyd.Mens.1.13, as v.l. for ὀππικίζω ; also ὀφφικίζω ibid. : ὀππικιστής , opicus, Gloss.
