II. as Appellat., persuasiveness, “πειθοῦς ἐπαοιδαῖσιν” A. Pr. 173 (anap.), etc. ; π. τις ἐπεκάθιζεν ἐπὶ τοῖς χείλεσιν, of Pericles, Eup.94.5 ; “ἀργύριον παρά του πειθοῖ λαβών” X. Mem. 1.7.5 ; “πειθοῦς δημιουργός ἐστιν ἡ ῥητορική” Pl.
