Τροφώνιος , ὁ, the legendary builder of the first temple of Apollo at Delphi, h.Ap.296; afterwards himself the possessor of a celebrated oracle, Pi.Fr.2, Hdt.1.46, 8.134; καταβαίνων ὥσπερ ἐς Τροφωνίου (sc. ἄντρον) Ar.Nu.508 :—
