ἄναρχ-ος , ον,
A.without head or chief, Il.2.703; “ναυτικὸν στράτευμ᾽ ἄ.” E.IA914, cf. Hec. 607; ἄ. ζῷα, opp. τὰ ὑφ᾽ ἡγεμόνα ὄντα, Arist. HA488a11: τὸ ἄ., = ἀναρχία, A Eu.696.
2. ἔτος ἄ. a year without any regular magistrates, GDI5635 (Teos).
II. Act., holding no office or magistracy, prob. l. Arr.Epict.4.6.3.
b. not qualified to hold office, Max. Tyr. 21.5 (Sup., s. v. l.).
III. without beginning, Parm.8.27, Ocell. 1.2, S.E.M.7.312; “κύκλος ἄ. καὶ ἀτελεύτητος” Procl.Inst.146; “ἄ. δίκη” PLips.33 ii 5 (iv A. D.).
