A.fainthearted, spiritless, once in Hom., “ἀσκελέες καὶ .Od.10.463; “κακὸς καὶ .Hdt.7.11; “οὐ τοῖς . τύχη ξυλλαμβάνειS.Fr. 927, cf. OT319; of nations, opp. ἔνθυμος, Arist.Pol.1327b28: Comp. “-ότεροςMen.405.2; . εἶναι πρός τι to have little heart for it, X.An.1.4.9. Adv. “ἀθύμως, ἔχειν πρός τιId.HG4.5.4, cf. Isoc.3.58; “ἀθύμως διάγεινX.Cyr.3.1.24; ἀθύμως πονεῖν to work without spirit, Id.Oec. 21.5; ὁδοὺς . τιθέντες discouraging their marches, A.Eu.770.
