A.unseemly, shameful, “ἀεικέα λοιγὸν ἀμύνειν” Il.1.456, al.; “ἀεικέα [εἵματα] ἕσσαι” Od.24.250; “δεσμός” A.Pr.97, cf. 525; “ἀεικεῖ σὺν στολᾷ” S.El.191 (lyr.); “-έστερα ἔπεα” Hdt.7.13; οὐδὲν ἀ. παρέχεσθαι cause no inconvenience, Id.3.24; ἀεικέα μισθόν (v.l. ἀνεικέα, q.v.) meagre, Il.12.435; so “οὐ . . ἀεικέα . . ἄποινα” 24.594. Adv. “ἀεικῶς” Hsch.; Ion. “-έως” Simon.13; ἀεικές as Adv., Od.17.216.
