Inscrr., the simple vb. only in pres. and impf.:—speak in the assembly, harangue, freq.in Ep., “ἀγορὰς ἀ.” Il.2.788; “ἐν Ἀργείοις ἔπεα πτερόεντ᾽ ἀ.” 23.535; “ὣς Ἕκτωρ ἀγόρευε” 8.542; τοῖσιν ἀ. address them, 1.571, al.; “πρὸς ἀλλήλους ἔπεα” 24.142; “ὀνειδίζων ἀ.” Od.18.380: in Att., of the crier's proclamation in the Ecclesia, τίς ἀγορεύειν βούλεται; who wishes to address the house? Ar.Ach.45, D.18.170, etc.; “ἀ. ὡς . . ” Il.1.109: c. inf., μή τιφόβονδ᾽ ἀγόρευε counsel me not to flight, Il 5.252; “ἀ. μὴστρατεύεσθαι” Hdt.7.10.ά.
