2. metaph., δόξαν ἔχω ἀκόνας λιγυρᾶς ἐπὶ γλώσσᾳ I feel the shrill note of a whetstone on my tongue, i.e. am roused to song, Pi.O.6.82; of persons, e.g. a trainer, “ἀνδράσιν ἀεθληταῖσιν Ναξίαν ἀκόναν” Pi.I.6(5).73; of Ἔρως, AP12.18 (Alph.), cf. Plu.2.838e.
3. part of tragus of ear, Poll.2.86. (Cf.Skt. áśan- 'stone'.)
