II. generally, edge, χώματος . of a sepulchral mound, A. Ch.722; βώμιος . of an altar, S.OT182(lyr.). (As there is no trace of ϝ, the word is more probably connected with [root ] ak 'pointed' than with ϝάγ-νυμι.
