ἀλάβαστος [α^λα^-] or ἄλα^β-στρος , , v.l. in
A.Ev Marc.14.3), globular vase without handles for holding perfumes, often made of alabaster, Hdt.3.20, Ar.Ach.1053, Crates Com.15.6, Alex.62,143, etc. (ἀλάβαστος (or -ον) is the earlier Att. form, SIG102, cf. Ael.Dion.Fr.31, Men.990: Dor. acc. pl. “ἀλαβάστρωςCall.Lav.Pall.15) :—neut. ἀλάβαστρον IG2.745B4, 11(2).161B9 (Delos, iii B. C.), LXX 4 Ki.21.13 (cod. A), v.l. in Ev.Marc.14.3: pl. ἀλάβαστρα or “-ταTheoc.15.114, AP9.153 (Agath.).
