ἀλεγίζω , Ep. Verb, used only in pres. and impf.: (ἀλέγω) :—
A.trouble oneself about a thing, care for, mind, heed, in Hom. (only in Il.) always with neg., c. gen., “τῶν οὔτι μετατρέπῃ οὐδ᾽ ἀλεγίζειςIl.1.160, al.; “τῶν μὲν ἄρ᾽ οὐκ ἀλέγιζε πατήρ11.80, cf. Hes. Th.171 : abs., “ δ᾽ ἀφήμενος οὐκ ἀλεγίζει οὐδ᾽ ὄθεταιIl.15.106; in late Ep. c. acc., “ἐγὼ δέ μιν οὐκ ἀλεγίζωQ.S.2.428; rare without neg., “ὃς τρία μὲν τίκτει, δύο δ᾽ ἐκλέπει, ἓν δ᾽ ἀλεγίζειMusae.Fr.3 D.; ἡρώων . IG14.1389 i 42 :—Pass., οὐκ ἀλεγιζόμενος f.l. in AP5.17 (Rufin.).—Poet. word, found in Aret. CA1.4.
