ἀμφίστημι ,
A.place round: in this sense only poet. in Pass. ἀμφίσταμαι, with intr. aor. ἀμφέστην, Ep. 3pl. ἀμφέσταν, and 3pl. pf. ἀμφεστᾶσι, stand around, abs., “φίλοι δ᾽ ἀμφέσταν ἑταῖροι” Il.18.233; “κλαίων δ᾽ ἀμφίσταθ᾽ ὅμιλος” 24.712: c. acc., “ἀμφὶ δέ σ᾽ ἔστησαν” Od. 24.58; “πεδίον ἀμφεστᾶσι πᾶν” S.OC1312, cf. Aj.724: c. dat., “ἀμφίσταμαι τραπέζαις” El.192.
