ἀνεπι-στήμων , Dor. ἀνεπι-άμων Archyt.3, ον, gen. ονος,
A.ignorant, unskilful, Hdt.9.62, Th.7.67, etc.; νῆες ἀνεπιστήμονες ships with unskilful crews, opp. ἔμπειροι, Id.2.89: so μηδὲν ἀ. ἐᾶν leave no part untrained, Pl.Lg.795c; ἀ. τινός or περί τινος unskilled in a thing, Hp.VM1, Pl.Prt.350b, Tht.202c: c. inf., not knowing how to do a thing, X.Mem.2.3.7: foll. by relat., ἀ. ὅτι . . not knowing that . ., Th.5.111; “ἀ. ὅπῃ τράπωνται” Id.3.112. Adv. “-μόνως” Pl.Lg.636e, X. Cyn.3.11, etc.
II. without knowledge, unintelligent, Pl.R.350b, etc.; “ἡ δ᾽ ἑτέρη [γνώμη] ἀνεπιστημονεστέρη μέν ἐστι τῆς ἑτέρης” less intelligent, Hdt.2.21.
