Fract.14; τὸ ὠθούμενον . ὅθεν ὠθεῖται offers resistance in the direction from which the pressure comes, Arist.Mech.858a26; πρός or περί τι, Plu.2.924d, 923e.
2. metaph., exert mutual pressure, of contending politicians, Phld.Rh.2.51 S. (dub.); simply, argue against, Sor.2.57.
