ἀντιφέρω ,
A.set against, Pl.Erx.395b; “. πόλεμον ἐπί τινιAP7.438 (Damag.): used by Hom. only in Med. or Pass., set oneself against, fight against another, “ἀντεφέροντο μάχηIl.5.701; ἀργαλέος γὰρ Ὀλύμπιος ἀντιφέρεσθαι hard to oppose, 1.589, cf. Od.16.238: c. acc. cogn., μένος . τινί match oneself with another in strength, Il.21.482; “τίς Ὁμηρείοις ἀντιφέροιτο λόγοις;AP9.625 (Maced.).
