ἀπεύχομαι ,
A.wish a thing away, wish it may not happen, c. acc. rei, “ἀπεύχου ταῦτα, πρὸς θεῶν” E.Hipp.891; “τί μάλιστ᾽ ἂν ἀπευξαίμεθα;” D.20.157; ἀ. τι τοῖς θεοῖς μηδαμῶς γίγνεσθαι pray the gods it may not be, Pl.Lg.687d, cf. D.8.51: without “μή, ἀπεύχεσθε ἰδεῖν” Id.6.23, cf. 20.106: also τοῦτο . . μὴ γένοιτο . . ἀπεύχομαι Ar.Th.714.
