ἀπό-πληκτος , ον, (ἀποπλήσσω)
A.disabled by a stroke,
1. in mind, struck dumb, astounded, Hdt.2.173, cf. S.Ph.731; “ἀ. ποδί” Id.Fr.248; senseless, “οὐχ οὕτως ἄφρων οὐδ᾽ ἀ.” D.21.143, cf. Men.Epit. 344, Phld.Ir.p.82 W., D.Chr.11.100; “ἀ. καὶ παντελῶς μαινόμενος” D. 34.16; “ὃ νυνὶ ποεῖς ἀ. ἐστι” Men.Pk.246; “-τότερος μῦθος” D.Chr.11.54.
2. in body, paralysed, crippled, Hdt.1.167, Pl.Com.130; “ἀ. τὰς γνάθους” struck dumb, Ar.V.948.
3. Medic., stricken with paralysis, Hp.Aph.6.57; “μέρος” paralysed, Id.Flat.13: so σκέλος Id. ap. Aret.SD1.7; “ἀπόπληκτοι” cases of apoplexy, Id.Aph.3.16.
