ἀποδείκ-νυ_μι (and ἀποδεικ-ύω X.Smp.8.20, Plb.7.14.3), Ion. ἀποδεικ-δέκνῦμι GDI5653b14 (Chios, v B. C.), fut. -δείξω, Ion. -δέξω:—
A.point away from other objects at one, and so:
I. point out, display, make known, whether by deed or word, “σφι γνώμαςHdt.1.171,al.; “τάφους καὶ συγγένειανTh.1.26; “ἦθος τὸ πρόσθε τοκήωνA.Ag.727; “ἀρετήνHyp.Epit.29; “τὰ τῆς τεχνης ἐξευρήματαHp.Praec.9; proclaim, τὴν ἡμέρην GDI l. c.;—Pass., “τῶν ου^ρων ἀποδεχθέντωνSIG134b22 (Milet., iv B. C.).

b. c. inf., κώμας ὅθεν ἀπέδειξαν οἱ ἡγεμόνες λαμβάνειν τὰ ἐπιτήδεια whence they appointed that they should receive . ., X.An.2.3.14:—Pass., τοῖσι ἀποδεδέχθαι . . ἕλκειν (impers.) it had been appointed them to draw, Hdt.2.124.

II. show forth a person or thing as so and so, hence:

B. Med., show forth, exhibit something of one's own, ἀποδέξασθαι τὴν γνώμην deliver one's opinion, Hdt.1.170,207, cf. Th.1.87; also “. μεγάλα ἔργαHdt.1.59, al.; ἀξιαπηγητότατα ib.16; οὐδὲν λαμπρὸν ἔργον ib.174; . ἀρετάς display high qualities, Pi.N.6.49 (cf. supr. A. 1.2); “πνεύματα εἰς ἄλληλα στάσιν . . ἀποδεικνύμεναA.Pr. 1088; of buildings and the like , “μνημόσυνα .Hdt.2.101; “χώματα ἀξιοθέητα1.184; οὐδεμίαν στρατηΐην . not to have any military service to show, 2.111:—Pass., ἔργα μεγάλα καὶ θαυμαστὰ . . ἀποδεχθέντα Id. Prooem., cf. 9.27.
2. Med. in act. sense, ἀποδεδειγμένοι ἦσαν ὅτι had declared that . ., X.An.5.2.9.
C. Pass., v. supr. 1.5, 11.1,2,3: aor. ἀπεδείχθην is always Pass., as Hdt.7.154; and so mostly pf. ἀποδέδειγμαι, 1.136, Antipho 2.4.10, X.An.7.1.26; but the part. of the latter is sts. Act., v. supr. B.2.
