ἀποφάσκω ,
A.= ἀπόφημι, only in pres. inf. and part., and impf.:— deny, Plu.2.393c; “τί τινοςSimp.in Ph.218.11:—Pass., Dam.Pr.445; in S.OT485 οὔτε δοκοῦντ᾽ οὔτ᾽ ἀποφάσκονθ) is interpreted by Sch. οὔτε πιστὰ οὔτε ἄπιστα 'neither commanding assent nor suffering denial) (but better referred to ἐμέ understood, 'neither assenting nor denying'):— ἀποφάσκων [λόγος], name of a sophism, Arr.Epict.3.9.21; title of work by Chrysippus, Stoic.2.8.
