ἀπογιγνώσκω , Ion. and later Att. ἀπογευ-γι_νώσκω , fut. -γνώσομαι:—
A.depart from a judgement, give up a design or intention of doing, “τοῦ μάχεσθαιX.An.1.7.19, cf. Plb.1.29.5, etc.; “. τὸ κατὰ γῆν πορεύεσθαιX.HG7.5.7; “. διώκεινPlu.Ant.34, cf. Thes.6; . μὴ βοηθεῖν resolve not to help, D.15.9, cf.IG22.457.30: c.gen., give up a notion, Simp. in Ph.610.9.
b. renounce, reject, τι Hp.Medic.4, cf.D.3.33; “τινάςId.6.16, cf. D.C.73.15; “φιλίανIamb.VP22.102.
III. as law-term, refuse to receive an accusation, reject, γραφήν, ἔνδειξιν, D.22.39,58.17:hence,
2. . τινός (sc. δίκην vel γραφήν) reject the charge brought against a man, i.e. acquit him, opp. καταγιγνώσκειν τινός, Id.40.39, cf. Aeschin.2.6, etc.; “. τί τινοςIs.5.34: c. inf., . τινὸς μὴ ἀδικεῖν acquit him of wrong, Lys.1.34; also “οὐκ ἀπέγνω τῆς δίκηςD.34.21.
