(cf. 111.1), slope away, of countries, “τὰ πρὸς τὴν Γελῴαν ἀποκεκλιμέναD.S.13.89; of the day, decline towards evening, ἀποκλινομένης τῆς μεσαμβρίης, τῆς ἡμέρης, Hdt.3.104, 114, 4.181.

III. more freq. intr. in Act.,
1. of countries, slope,ὡς πρὸς τὰς ἄρκτουςPlb.3.47.2.
2. turn aside or off the road, X.An. 2.216, Theoc.7.130: hence, τὸ πρὸς τὴν ἠῶ ἀποκλίνοντι as one turns to go eastward, Hdt.4.22.
5. Astrol., of planets, enter the ἀπόκλιμα (q.v.), opp. ἐπίκεντρος εἶναι, Plot.2.3.1, cf. 3, Ptol.Tetr.115.
