A.send off or away, dispatch, dismiss, Il.21.452, Od.24.312, al.; “τῷ κε τάχα στυγερῶς μιν ἐγὼν ἀπέπεμψα νέεσθαι” 23.23; ἐπί τι, ἔς τι, for a purpose, Hdt.1.38,47; ἀ. τοὺς πρέσβεις dismiss them, Th.5.42, cf. Ar.Nu.1244; “ἀ. ἀσινέας” Hdt.7.146:—Med., send away from oneself, “τὸν παῖδα ἐξ ὀφθαλμῶν ἀ.” Id.1.120; ἀ. τὴν γυναῖκα put away, divorce her, Id.6.63(so in Act., D.59.52, Men.994); “ἀ. τὰς ναῦς ὁμολογίᾳ” get rid of . ., Th.3.4; ἀ. ἡδονήν get rid of it, Arist.EN1109b11; send from home, A.Pers.137.
